Badan - preparation for planting, care and cultivation
Badan has been cultivated in culture since the middle of the 18th century. It is suitable for landscaping shaded areas. The birthplace of the flower is Siberia, but it is popular in Europe as a medicinal and garden plant.
What does badan look like?
Badan blooms very early. In spring, as soon as the snow comes down, green leaves are appearing above the ground. Following them, inflorescences are revealed: pink, white, red, lilac. Peduncles grow and bloom simultaneously. The first bells are opened still between the elastic leaves, and the latter rises to a height of several tens of centimeters.
Flowering of the oil continues for almost 2 months. Faded plants become a wonderful background for the rest.
Until the middle of the summer, the hoods will be in peace. Then begins the growth of the rhizome and the bookmark of the kidneys, which will become flowers after 2 years.
In Autumn the Badan again becomes decorative. With colds, the leaves become brightly colored. First they have a red border, then all the plates are strangled with bizarre patterns. In some varieties with the first freezing, the whole surface of the leaf immediately becomes crimson or purple.
Preparing the boat for landing
Badan is used in gardening of personal plots. Many varieties - different in height of peduncle, diameter of leaves and color of petals, are derived, but all types of agrotechnics are similar.
Select a location
The place for the badan should be chosen once and for all - the plant will be ill during transplantation.
Badans suffer a lack of light and do not freeze even in cold winters. They can be planted in the sun or in the shade. However, in the open, they never grow so green, large and lush as in the penumbra. Far from direct sun, plants look the most succulent and bright, but cease to bloom.
If the flower is used to plant the alpine hill, it should be planted on the north side.
Priming
Practice shows that 90% of success in growing this flower depends on the soil. Badans need the same soil on which they grow in nature - a poor organic, rocky.
For a garden, you can recommend such a substrate:
- sand 2 pieces;
- small stones 1 part;
- turf earth 1 part.
If there is no desire or possibility to make a substrate, you need at least add a little sand and fine stone to the hole.
Badan does not tolerate even a temporary stagnation of water, so it does not grow on clay soil. But, planted near a pond or brook for good drainage, it will grow and bloom.
Landing Badan in the open ground
Badan is multiplied by dividing the bush. Delenki planted in May and June. The planting material looks like a root, on which there are root buds and 2-3 leaves.
Delenku planted at a depth of about 10 cm between neighboring plants should be at least 50 cm, as the bushes will grow not in height, but in width.
When propagating Badan seeds, you will need a purchase of land for flowers. Seeds are sown in early spring in a wooden box. It is not necessary to deepen deeply, it is enough to make grooves with a depth of 5 mm:
- Place the seeds in the grooves at a distance of 2 cm.
- Fill with soil.
- Pour water from the watering can.
For germination, a temperature of 18-19 degrees will be required. Seed germination requires a minimum of 3 weeks.
Seedlings are planted on a bed when it grows up and gets stronger:
- dig out holes;
- pour some sand on the bottom;
- plant the seedlings to the same depth as it grew in the box.
Badan, grown from seeds, develops very slowly. By the autumn he has only two leaves. In the first winter, the bush must be covered with a fall from the garden. Plants bloom for the third or fourth year.
